The small ask
I admit, sometimes I feel this cloud of discouragement just over my head, threatening to pour down rain on me. I know how real depression is and sometimes it’s a daily battle.
This one particular morning, I was heading to the Temple to worship. The cloud over my head this morning was heavy. I needed to know my Heavenly Father loved me so I asked Him for a tender mercy. Maybe an “I love you” just from God.
I said Heavenly Father, can you make sure there is a parking spot in the second row? I had enough faith for this simple ask, and so I drove down the second row. I got to almost the very end and could see that there wasn’t a parking space. Then, as if the spot lit up so I could see it, I saw a parking spot in the first row. I then felt the love as I heard Him say why would I save you a spot in the second row when I could give you a spot in the first?
Then, later in the morning I was thinking about how I needed to take more vitamin D, and get out in the almost non existent sun to feel better. Again, the voice with the feeling of overwhelming love came to me and I heard: I am the Son and I am brighter than the Sun. Keep your eyes on me.
As things become darker in this world of chaos, Jesus is the answer. He wants to heal us. He gives us hope. He died for us, paid the price for us. He will take our worries and our burdens. He understands our circumstances. We just need to keep our eyes on Him.
